Card of the week: Restoring Cosmic Order
Tarot of Transformation, 8 Balance — Restoring Cosmic Order
A feminine figure extends her right arm (the side of action, rather than receptivity) into the sky, where it merges into a swirl of light resembling a great wheel. Light dances in sparkles around her, in a wooded glade. Three symbols in the foreground appear to represent gods and/or goddesses and also appear to watch her.
This card is a reminder that we are observed, or that what we do is somehow recorded. If not by other people or our own higher selves, then by the powers or laws of the universe. In the Akashic Records, perhaps, or in the very fiber and light of existence. There is consciousness at work, in what we do, and in the balance that results. This is a card about balance, restoration, justice and karma. We reap what we sow.
This card for the week calls upon me to ask myself what I’m sending out into the world. Am I giving what I would want to receive? How am I treating others around me? Am I offering them the attention, respect, and interaction or gifts they deserve and can use, or am I simply worrying about what I want and think I need, or what I think they should want?
It’s time to reflect on my footprint. What do I leave behind as I make my way through life? What is my impact on the world and on others? Does what I do serve the greater good? Is inaction also an action? Am I a person who helps make the world a better place? Is the balance of my actions helpful or harmful? How and what do I serve? Whom must I, at some future time, answer to for my actions?
Life is a labyrinth, where a brief, questioning exploration can remove doubt, or a decisive turn can make all the difference. Robert Frost put it more poetically:
“I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
