Who I’ll Vote For Now
I still plan to vote for Dennis Kucinich in the primaries, regardless of his withdrawal from his presidential campaign, since there’s no other candidate who fills the bill for me, and his name is on my primary ballot in California. Even if it wasn’t, I think at this point I’d write him in.
It appears others have the same idea, from what I’ve read on some news blogs. The Kucinich supporters at California for Kucinich explain why they recommend a vote for Kucinich in the primaries. Here’s a little of what they say:
“If Dennis Kucinich gets 15% in a Congressional District, we, the people will have delegates at the Democratic Convention where we can push for the issues Dennis has so bravely put forward during this campaign.” (read web page)
Corporate Personhood
Speaking of the “corporate-controlled media” you may have seen the term “corporate personhood” used here or elsewhere. Corporate personhood is an issue that I don’t think most people give much thought to. I hadn’t until recently. The reason is that most people, myself included, haven’t informed ourselves very well about the history of corporations and their rights in this country. In a comment on my last post, Ken provided a link to a page at ReclaimDemocracy.org. Like me, you might find their page titled, Our Hidden History of Corporations in the United States interesting reading.
“Voter Information Guide for Democrats”
If you live in California, and you received a “Voter Information Guide for Democrats” mailer, and wondered why it excluded Dennis Kucinich even though it was mailed before he dropped out, you might assume it came from somewhere it didn’t. I searched on line, when I received my mailer a few days ago, and I was ready to ream the Democratic Party about it. Update 1/27/2008 — someone just point out to me that the following sites I found indicating that it wasn’t from the Democratic Party are dated 2006. I haven’t found anything current. Here are some links to what I found:
SignOnSanDiego: For-profit ‘voters guides’ called misleading
DailyKos: Fraudulent “Voter Guide” in California!
Although these sources aren’t current, if you received a “Voter Information Guide for Democrats” card that you thought was misleading, it may be a flier from a for-profit concern attempting to manipulate voters by making us think it was from the Democratic Party. Mine, received a few days ago, had the eagle, the same title, and the Sherman Oaks address, though otherwise it looked a little different from any of those I saw on line.

Barbara,
I still plan on voting for Kucinich in the New York primary. I thought about switching my vote for a little bit, but after thinking about the other candidates positions I can’t do that. As much as I dislike Hillary I refuse to make a “lesser of 2 evils” vote this time around.

Barbara, thank you for your concise reporting on the electoral process in the States…I receive more info here than I do from our Canadian news channels. It is good to know more of the ins and outs.
